Purpose & Outcomes

The goal of the side event is to bring together the CVF Youth Fellows and to create a dialogue that contributes to the COP27 discussions, specifically on the priorities of the CVF and the role of youth in climate action. The CVF Youth Fellows will be invited to give presentations on their advocacy for tackling climate change. They will have the opportunity to connect with each other, and with climate change experts, in order to create a lasting network from climate-vulnerable countries.

The CVF Youth Fellowship

In order to promote and advance ambitious climate action for the next generation of changemakers, the CVF launched a “Youth Fellowship” for 12 Fellows aged 18 to 25 selected from its Member States. The program aims to empower the voices of the youth and build a delegation that can speak to the impacts of climate breakdown on their generation. The Youth Fellows will receive various training and resources which will build their capacities and ensure their preparedness against the threatening impacts of climate change. They will be sponsored to represent their countries for one week at COP27, in addition to assisting the CVF in advancing its priorities and ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard in the climate change negotiations.

The Climate Vulnerable Forum

The CVF is a South-South cooperation platform enabling countries highly vulnerable to climate change to act together to deal with this historic global challenge across all world regions.
