CVF Global Parliamentary Group Annual Dialogue II

Overview: 

On 24 October 2023, the Climate Vulnerable Forum Global Parliamentary Group (CVF GPG) will convene its second Annual Dialogue on the sidelines of the 147th Annual General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Luanda, Angola, to provide a platform to facilitate legislative discussion and exchange collaborative actions on climate change. The Dialogue will precede the upcoming Accountability Summit of the CVF GPG, which will be held at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28). 

Objectives: 

The objectives of the CVF GPG Dialogue are to act as a regular forum dedicated to legislative discussion, exchange and collaborative action on climate change, and provide overall strategic guidance establishing priorities for the CVF GPG. The Dialogue would provide a platform to monitor any substantive activity of the CVF GPG including Work Plan implementation and recognise new Participants in the CVF GPG. Along with the validation of research and providing technical guidance with respect to one or more specific topics or items of concern, the CVF GPG Dialogue would also invite to meet with, present or interact with CVF GPG Participants, any Observer country, Expert, as well as high representatives of other relevant bodies or entities, at the dialogue on a specific or general topic.

Format: 2-hours in-person event 

Date and Time: 24 October 2023; 12:30 to 14:00 (GMT+1)

Venue: Palace of the National Assembly, Angolan Parliament 

 Participation and Level: 

The CVF GPG dialogue will consist of the following “Participants”:

(a) Parliamentarians from the CVF Member States serving in their own capacity;

(b) A Chair, which is a representative of the incumbent CVF Chair; and 

(c) Parliamentarians from CVF Observer States and observer institutions that are interested to learn more about the work of the CVF GPG or potentially to petition for CVF membership in 2023. 

Language: All documents will be shared in English, French, and Spanish. The CVF GPG Dialogue will take place in English with simultaneous interpretation in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
